Historic Home in Leesburg Virginia Get a New Boiler

old home with work van
|

When the heat stopped working at the historic Thomas Birkby House in historic downtown Leesburg – heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) contractor, M.E. Flow, got the call. Because we knew that this circa 1770 building used a boiler for heat we sent our boiler specialist, Rodney, to evaluate the situation. It was confirmed that the old gas fired hot water boiler needed to be replaced. The removal of the old boiler and the installation of the new one was immediately scheduled.

Our HVAC installers, who are also trained to install boilers, went in and removed the old boiler and prepared for the installation of a new Weil-Mclain high efficiency gas fired boiler. Because of the home’s historical value, the boiler replacement job had some challenges. However, the old dated boiler was removed and the new modern, high efficiency system was installed using the original pipes connecting to the old radiators.

This was an important job, not only because of the historical value of the home, but also because it is a prime location for weddings and social events. You can check out the beauty of the Birkby house and a radiator or two in the gallery of photos located on their website.

With many historic homes in our Northern Virginia area we do receive several calls from homeowners who own boilers.
