The Heat of Summer Will Be Here Soon! Is your AC Ready for Summer?
My Air Conditioning System is Ready! I ended the winter season with a repair to my Goodman furnace and while the M.E. Flow service technician from Winchester was at my home in Lake Frederick, he shared some tips to help me get the best performance from my Goodman air conditioning system.
Here are the 3 tips to help you keep your AC system in great shape:
- Change filters regularly
- Keep your outdoor unit free of debris
- Maintenance is key
Change Your Filters
Simply by changing your filters, you can prevent dirt from building up inside your unit. Dirty filters also make your system work harder and will lessen the amount of cool air coming out of the vents. Replace the filter on your AC system once a month or as recommended. When your coil gets dirty from not changing your filters, the air conditioner will not work properly, and the compressor or fans are likely to fail prematurely.
Check the Outdoor Unit
Make sure it’s free of debris, overgrown grass and shrubs. If you have landscaping around your outdoor unit trim the vegetation back.
Maintenance is Key to Longevity
No matter what brand, make, or model your HVAC equipment is they all need regular maintenance! It’s no different than your vehicle maintenance. Imagine not changing the oil in your car…how long would it be before you have costly problems? It’s recommended to get an AC tune-up now before the heat of summer hits! Simply by having an AC tune-up you’ll be protecting your warranty, you’ll save energy because your system will be operating at peak efficiency, and if there is a minor problem…it will be caught before it becomes a major problem.
Why Should You Perform Maintenance on Your HVAC System?
According to the Goodman website…preventive maintenance inspections performed on a regular basis can uncover leaks, rust, rot, soot, frayed wires, and corroded electrical contacts.
